Northern Minnesota Eye Care - You Deserve to See the Beauty of the World

Updated: Nov 9, 2021

Northern Minnesota Eye Care, owned by Dr. Christopher McDowell & his wife, Dr. Sasha Narayan, is located at 1001 Cloquet Avenue. They understand how important your sight is for your overall quality of life — kids in school, families enjoying the outdoors, and older adults who deserve to enjoy their retirement to the fullest. They believe that you deserve to have healthy vision to continue doing the things you enjoy. They have been a part of the Northern Minnesota community and taking care of patients since 2006. They are still independently (and locally) owned, so they can treat patients in their best interest, not recommend whatever is best for a corporation or insurance companies bottom line.

They offer comprehensive vision plans, diagnostic testing, glasses and contacts, vitamins/supplements, surgical co-management, dry eye treatment, and emergency care. They treat conditions such as cataracts, myopia, astigmatism, macular degeneration, glaucoma, strabismus, diabetic retinopathy, computer vision syndrome, and visual fatigue syndrome. In addition, they care about your eye health as it changes throughout the various stages of your life.

They have three convenient locations, Cloquet, Moose Lake, and Hinckley. They were the first optometry practice in Minnesota to use multi-spectral retinal imaging for diagnostic exams. Each year, their medical team completes 120 hours of continuing education.

For almost everyone, sight is by far the most important of their five senses. Up to 80% of the information our brains receive is from our eyes. One of the biggest myths people have is that your eyes don't change. On the contrary, your eyes will continue to change as you age, deal with other medical imperfections, take medication, use the computer or phone, watch tv, etc. Most people want an easy way to maintain their long-term vision and gain peace of mind knowing their eyes are healthy. To do that, the doctors at Northern Minnesota Eye Care recommend following these three steps to better eye health:

  1. Meet with a doctor for an evaluation.

  2. Receive a custom treatment plan unique to your needs and your concerns.

  3. Maintain a routine eye care schedule.

To meet the needs of their customer's busy and active lifestyles, they are open one Saturday a month from Labor Day to Memorial Day.
