In the heart of the Cloquet Business Park, a new kind of dental experience is taking shape, one built on compassion, personalization, and community. Woods & Water Family Dental, owned and operated by Dr. Wendy Peterson, is more than just a dental clinic, it’s a reflection of a lifelong journey rooted in care, resilience, and a passion for helping others feel confident in their smile.

Located at 505 Commerce Way, this thoughtfully designed, 3,245-square-foot facility officially opened its doors on Halloween 2025, following a year of planning and construction after purchasing the land from the City of Cloquet in November 2024. From the moment you walk in, the space feels intentional, warm, welcoming, and designed with patient comfort in mind.

A Story That Shapes the Care

Business owner Dr. Wendy Peterson's path to dentistry is deeply personal. Growing up in Long Prairie, Minnesota, she learned the value of hard work and customer care by helping her family run both a multigenerational farm and later a convenience store. But it was her own dental journey, years of treatment including braces and jaw surgery, that truly shaped her future.

That experience didn’t just change her smile; it transformed her confidence. And today, that same transformation is what she strives to provide for every patient who walks through her doors.

Her career began as a dental hygienist after graduating from Lake Superior College in 2006, and she later earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2018. After returning to Minnesota, she and her family settled in Esko, where her vision for a community-centered, state-of-the-art clinic came to life.

Modern Dentistry, Personalized for You

At Woods & Water Family Dental, the philosophy is simple: no two patients are the same, and their care shouldn’t be either.

Dr. Wendy has invested in advanced technology and continues her professional development through the Seattle Study Club’s Duluth Chapter, ensuring patients receive the most up-to-date, high-quality care available.

The clinic offers a full range of services for patients of all ages, including:

  • Dental Checkups

  • Invisalign

  • Pediatric Dentistry

  • Veneers

  • Dental Implants

  • Teeth Whitening

  • Emergency Dentistry

  • Composite Fillings, Root Canals, TMJ Treatment, Periodontal Care, Dentures, and Extractions

Whether it’s a routine visit or a more advanced procedure, patients can expect a tailored experience designed around their needs, comfort, and long-term oral health.

Built for Community, Backed by Heart

Dr. Wendy’s commitment goes beyond the clinic walls. She actively visits local elementary and middle schools, educating kids on the importance of dental health and empowering the next generation to take pride in their smiles.

And the community response? Overwhelming.

“Our phones are ringing and we are here to meet the growing dental demands in the area,” Dr. Wendy Peterson shares.

The grand opening event was a testament to that excitement, standing-room-only, shoulder to shoulder, with support from local families and businesses alike.

Behind it all is a carefully built team of talented professionals from across the region, each dedicated to delivering a family-friendly, welcoming experience.

At Woods & Water Family Dental, dentistry is more than procedures. It’s about people, confidence, and care that feels as good as it looks.

Because your smile and your story deserve more than one-size-fits-all.
