In Cloquet’s historic West End District, a fresh, welcoming energy is growing at Wild Roots Salon, where every visit is more than a routine appointment; it’s an experience centered on connection, care, and creativity.
Located at 102 Avenue C, Suite B, Wild Roots Salon opened in August 2025 under the ownership of Teri Thompson, bringing a modern and inviting salon environment to the community. From the moment clients walk through the doors, they are greeted by a warm, comfortable atmosphere that reflects the salon’s philosophy: beauty services should feel personal, relaxing, and uplifting. Wild Roots offers a full range of services, including haircuts, color, perms, waxing, nail and pedicure services, and eyelash and brow treatments. The salon is currently staffed by a talented and welcoming team of four professionals — Sheryl, Tara, Neila, and Teri — who are passionate about their craft and the relationships they build with clients.
“We have two more chairs open if anyone is interested in joining our team and renting a chair!” shared Thompson, noting that the salon continues to grow and welcomes new talent.
Wild Roots Salon was born from a moment of transition in the local beauty community. When Cailin Deas Hair Salon closed its Cloquet Avenue location in 2025, Thompson, a former employee, stepped forward with a vision to create a new space for both stylists and clients. Several former team members joined her in the new venture, helping carry forward the strong relationships they had built with clients over the years.
At the heart of Wild Roots Salon is a deep appreciation for the people who walk through its doors. The team values long-term client relationships and the trust that develops over time.
“I appreciate the energy our clients bring, the trust and confidence they place in us, and that they share with us their big and small life events,” Thompson said.
While the beauty industry can often feel competitive, Thompson takes a refreshing perspective toward other salons in the area.
“There is room for everyone in this city and area to offer unique services. We have wonderful salons and are simply fellow creatives. We are not competitive with one another.”
That collaborative spirit reflects the culture Thompson has intentionally created at Wild Roots. A place where stylists support one another, and clients feel comfortable and cared for.
“I manage, mentor, and provide a positive atmosphere here from business open to close. We have great conversations at Wild Roots Salon,” Thompson added.
Wild Roots Salon is currently open Tuesday through Saturday, welcoming clients from Cloquet and the surrounding Northland seeking professional services in a friendly, relaxed environment.
