Nelson Funeral Care - Helping You Create the Tribute of a Lifetime

Nelson Funeral Care is your only locally owned funeral home and cremation service. Rob and Lori Nelson purchased the Medich Snyder Drug building in downtown Cloquet located at 1004 Cloquet Avenue.

They renovated it to accommodate a large chapel, fellowship room for luncheons, private family room, children's room, spacious foyer with a grand piano. They opened in January of 1998 and began serving the community. Rob is a licensed funeral director in both Minnesota and Wisconsin and has worked in funeral service for over 40 years. Local ownership gives the flexibility to work closely with families on arrangement details and costs.

Rob, Lori, and their staff members are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and have personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance. They know that making the many decisions that come at a time of loss can be difficult. It is their job to understand, show respect and preserve dignity. To offer comfort and to assist families in their most challenging time.

"As a local, family-owned funeral provider, our greatest asset is experience. We believe it is our priority to listen to families, answer their questions, offer them ideas and options, arrange all the details, provide them with the dignified level of service and meet each of their unique and personal needs." - Rob

Many may not understand all of the services a funeral director provides. They file the death certificate and other necessary paperwork for social security, insurance claims, and benefits, retirement benefits, veterans' benefits. They obtain veterans' flags, cemetery markers, and burial clothing. They notify clergy or priests, organists, pianists, soloists, veterans honor guides, pallbearers, civic clubs, newspapers for obituaries. They order death certificates, vault for the cemetery, and flowers. In addition, they provide customer memorial folders, luncheon/fellowship room, coffee and punch for visitations, memory picture boards, memorial tables, audio and videotaping services, photographs of floral bouquets, laminated obituaries, temporary cemetery marker, placemats for luncheons, limousine services, tent at the graveside, grief counseling references.

When a Minnesota Veteran dies, they qualify for a free hand-crafted wooden urn professionally handmade using quality oak wood and is personalized with a military service seal and a nameplate that lists the Veteran's name, rank, military service, and life dates. Rob and Lori believe in giving back to the community, and they have always been active in the community with local churches, the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, volunteering at the schools and serving on the Cloquet Educational Foundation, Cloquet Memorial Hospital, and its Foundation, the Salvation Army, and Chamber of Commerce.
